Michiyo Mizuuchi

has been painting for almost a decade. For the last 4 years she has been painting regularly with acrylic and watercolor at Glen Echo Yellow Barn.  Her acrylic abstract painting is influenced strongly by Helen Corning of the Yellow Barn Studio at Glen Echo.   From Helen Corning she has learnt that the essence of art is “Simplicity and Elegance”, an idea that is resonate with the Japanese Zen philosophy, “wabi-sabi’. It is considered that beauty is to be found in simplicity, humility, restraint, naturalness, and melancholy as well as the defining element of impermanence.  This is what she strives to achieve in her painting.
